Crash: Filming Locations

Part One

Actual Southern California locations where 2005's "Crash" was filmed.

Near the start of the film, we see this panorama of Los Angeles.
The circular building on he left is the Capitol Records building,
located at Hollywood & Vine, in Hollywood.

The scene of Sandra Bullock Brendan Fraiser being robbed
on the street at gunpoint (by (LudacrisLarenz Tate)
was filmed on Broxton Avenue in Westwood Village,
near the Regent Theatre. (The jewelry store where the couple
takes shelter after the carjacking is located at 1065 Broxton.)

Policeman Don Cheadle goes to the "Valley-Ho Liquor Mart"
to investigate a drive-by shooting between two cops. Although
it's supposed to be in the Valley, this liquor store is actually the
South Bay Liquor Mart at 1014 Wilmington Ave, in Wilmington, CA.
That's located down by the L.A. Harbor, near two other "Crash" locations. *

(Warning: Wilmington has a problem with gangs, and may not be safe for
tourists. If you go there, exercise reasonable caution.)

Policeman Matt Dillon is aboard a train-themed restaurant
when he makes a phone call to an HMO about his father's
medical problems. He doesn't get anywhere, and his
frustration leads to his bad behavior in the next scene.

That train restaurant is actually Carney's, a long-time
favorite, located at 12601 Ventura Blvd in Studio City.
(The first of many scenes filmed in the Studio City area.)

Matt Dillon and his young partner (Ryan Philippe) spot what
may be the stolen car. That scene was shot at the corner of
Ventura Blvd & Rhodes Ave, in Studio City. The resulting
eastbound pursuit takes place on Ventura Blvd.

Despite his partner telling him that it is not the same car,
Matt Dillon pulls the car over, and proceeds to harass the
respectable couple inside (Terrence Howard &
Thandie Newton). During an unnecessary search,
he sexually molests the wife while frisking her.

This scene was shot just north of Ventura Blvd, on Radford Ave,
at the corner of Radford Ave. & Hoffman Street, in Studio City.

*  Locations marked by an asterisk (*) may be located in high-crime areas.
