Seeing Stars: Where the Stars Dine..

5955 Melrose Avenue,
Hollywood, CA. / (213) 972-3331

Patina has closed at this Melrose location, and moved to the Walt Disney Concert Hall
(141 S Grand Ave, next to The Music Center) in downtown Los Angeles,
where it is doing well. Their current phone number is (213) 972-3331.

This Melrose space will reopened as Providence, a seafood restaurant from
the chef at the popular Water Grill.

The most recent Zagat Survey ranked Patina as the most popular restaurant in Los Angeles. And it is certainly popular with Hollywood celebrities.

Owner Joachim Splichal, one of the best-known chefs in America, opened this small Franco-Californian restaurant in 1991. It is a sparse, sophisticated, white room, which offers outstanding food and excellent service - with none of the attitude problems so common at other celebrity restaurants. And this is one place where the food is truly as dazzling as the stars who eat it.

Located on trendy Melrose, not far from Paramount Studios, Patina attracts some of the biggest names in town:
Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Kevin Costner, Richard Gere, Ed Harris, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, John Landis, Kenneth Branagh... Most stars want a private booth in the back, but some prefer the roped-off D'Yquem room.

Patina is open for lunch, Tues-Fri: 11:30 AM-2:30 PM, and for dinner every day from 6 to 10 PM. Prices, as you might expect, are high. Splichal offers a special wild game menu in the fall, and February brings a special black truffle menu.

Getting there: From Hollywood & Vine, take Vine south to Melrose Avenue, turn right (west) on Melrose, and Patina will be on your right (north) side, just before Wilcox.
