The
location: Deb & Sofia at Pawn Shop
Q.
What is it supposed to be on the show?
A. A pawn shop
Q.
Where is it supposed to be on the show?
A. In or near Miami, Florida.
Q.
When did we see it on the show?
A. We see this location in Episode
2, of Season 1, when Debra and her friend Sofia go to a pawn shop to
try to pawn a pair of earrings that Deb has stolen from her brother.
What Deb doesn't know is that those earrings were taken by Dexter as trophies from the body of his first victim, nurse Mary.
The
pawnbroker tells Debra that the earrings are worthless, but offers to
buy her pearl necklace for $200. Sophia reminds Deb that those were her
dead mother's pearls, but Deb is angry with her father and sells them
anyway.
Q.
What is it actually in real life?
A. An actual pawn shop.
Q.
Where can I find it in real life?
A. This scene was filmed at H & R Jewelry Loan, located at 6422 Lankershim Blvd., in North Hollywood, CA.
It is located by five miles northwest of the house used as Laura Moser's home, and continues this year's tendency to film in the Valley, close to the new studio.
According to the owner, H & R specializes in buying & selling
gold, platinum, diamonds, watches, musical instruments, cameras &
computers.
Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?
A. This was an easy one.
Although most of the
scene takes place inside the pawn shop, at the end, when the girls leave
the shop, the camera pans down from the top of the building's exterior, clearly
showing the name of the business and (if you look closely) even the
street number
