Dexter: Original Sin Filming Locations: Hector Estrada's mansion

DEXTER: Original Sin Filming Locations - the actual places where the TV show Dexter: Original Sin was filmed.

The location: Hector Estrada's Mansion

Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. A mansion.

Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

    A.  In or near Miami, Florida.

Q. When did we see it on the show?

    A. We see this estate in Episode 7, of Season 1.

On the show, it is supposed to be the home of Hector Estrada, the brutal head of a drug-smuggling cartel.

In a flashback, Laura Mosel (Dexter’s biological mother, and Harry’s confidential informant) has been taken by Estrada’s men and delivered to his mansion (which is filled with machine gun-toting henchman)
She’s not sure why, and is understandably nervous (considering that he eventually murders her).

She’s escorted into the house and told to undress, then given a robe. She is then taken out onto a patio, where she watches Estrada (a muscular, handsome man) emerge from his large swimming pool.

He tells her to join him in the pool, so she has no choice but to drop her robe and walk naked into the water.

Once they are both sitting in the pool, he then tells her that he admires her ambition, and is impressed by how she has expanded her clientele.

He tells her he is expanding his territory to the northeast, and that he has a large shipment coming in soon. He says he would like for her to be at the shipyards to learn more about the operation.

When he is finished, she is allowed to leave.

Q. What is it actually in real life?

    A. A mansion.

Q. Where can I find it in real life?

A. This was one of the few scenes that were actually filmed in Florida.

You'll find this 7,078 square foot mansion at 2760 N. Bay Road, in the Bayshore neighborhood of Miami Beach.

It's on the west side of the island, near the Miami Beach Golf Club. It’s about 9 miles south of Dexter’s original apartment.

The home features 6 beds and baths.  Built in 1929, it was worth about $25 million in 2024 (according to Zillow).

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

A.  This was rather tricky. At first, I wasn’t sure if this was in Miami or Los Angeles.

But taking a closer look, I could tell that it was located right next to the water, which, if it were in SoCal , would put it in Malibu or perhaps down near Newport. But I’m familiar with the views from both of those coastal locations, and the view we see in that scene doesn’t look anything like Malibu or Newport.

So I was pretty damn sure that it was actually in Florida for a change. And I knew that they had shot in Miami for the first 10 days of filming.

I captured a screenshot of the house and pool, and ran it through Google Lens. It found a visual match that was obviously the same house, but the page didn’t give me the address, only the names of the owners and a lot of matching photos.

I then spent a long time tracking down the address via that those names, until It finally popped up on a list of LLCs.

I then used Google Earth to check out a 3D aerial view of the address and confirmed that it was a perfect match for what is seen on the show.

Here is a StreetView from Google:
