Dexter: Original Sin Filming Locations: Gio's High-Rise Condo

DEXTER: Original Sin Filming Locations - the actual places where the TV show Dexter: Original Sin was filmed.

The location: Gio's high-rise condo

Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. An expensive condominium in a high-rise  tower.

Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

    A.  In Biscayne Bay, in  Miami, Florida.

Q. When did we see it on the show?

    A. We first see the tower in Episode 4, of Season 1.

After Gio Martino picks up Deb in his Corvette, and they cruise along the shoreline, they wind up back at his posh condo tower, with sweeping views of the Miami Bay below.

Deb is impressed, and ends up spending the night.

We see the condo a second time in Episode 8, of Season 1, when Dexter, looking for the missing Debra, visits Gio's condo, and while there runs into Gio's fiancee, Ariana, a bitter young woman well aware of Gio's cheating ways.

She tells Dexter that Gio was going to Bimini, which allows Dexter to later rescue Debra after Gio strands her on the Bahamian island.

Bimini is 50 miles away from Miami, so while at the condo, Dexter uses the phone to call Camilla and asks if he can borrow her boat.

Q. What is it actually in real life?

    A. An expensive condominium in a high-rise  tower.

Q. Where can I find it in real life?

A. This scene was filmed at 1000 Venetian Way, in Miami, Florida.

1000 (One Thousand) Venetian consists of twin 22-story towers, built in 1983, offering 120 luxury residences.

The condo tower sits midway between Miami and Miami Beach on Biscayne Island, the westernmost of the Venetian Islands
, a chain of sIx artificial islands in Biscayne Bay, connected by the Venetian Causeway.

The largest condos in this tower sell for about $2 million (or rent for around $8,000 per month) .

The penthouse goes for around $6 million.

The breathtaking views seem to be the big selling point here.

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

A.  This one was easy to identify. I simply ran the screenshot through Google Images, and it instantly gave me the address, since the address (One Thousand Venetian Way)  is also the name of the condo tower.

Usually, when you see an aerial view of a Miami location on this show, it is just a helicopter or drone shot that is used as an establishing shot to fool viewers into thinking that the next scene takes place in that location, when in fact, most of the time the next scene was filmed in Southern California.

But not this time. The show spent their first 10 days of filming in Miami, and shot a number of scenes in that brief time, including Dexter's college, Dexter's meet-up with Masuka, Estrada's mansion, and Deb's partying on Bimini beach with Gio.

The wall of large picture windows behind Deb & Gio while they are in the apartment offered a moving view of the surrounding islands that verifies they had actually shot in that location.
