Isaak
wants to persuade Dexter to help him kill off two mob assassins who are
stalking him, so he kidnaps Hannah and holds her as a hostage to force
Dexter's cooperation.
Isaak's
right hand man, Jurg, has Hannah chained up and hidden away in the home
of one of the dead Columbians that Isaak shot at Mateo's bar.
There are several scenes shot at the house, showing Hannah & Jurg interacting, and Hannah talking on the phone to Dexter.
During one call, Dexter spots a soccer ball autographed by a Columbian player, and realizes where she's being held.
He tells Debra his hunch, and she shows up at the house.
But
by then, Hannah has attempted to escape, by tampering with Jurg's food,
and then hitting him over the head with a blender. But when she
tries to take the key to her chains from him, a struggle ensues.
She succeeds in killing Jurg, but is badly knifed in the process.
Debra shows up just in the nick of time, and resists the urge to just let Hannah die. Instead, she phones for an ambulance.
Q.
What is it actually in real life?
A. A residential home, just not in Miami.
Q.
Where can I find it in real life?
A. The exterior of this home was shot at 1238 Lodi Place, in Hollywood.
That's on the east side of the street, just a few houses southwest of the Sunset-Gower studio where they film Dexter.
When Debra breaks in, and finds Hannah unconscious, it appears they used the actual interior of the home.
But as for the earlier
interior scenes of Hannah being held hostage, I'm not 100% positive if they shot
inside the house or just built a duplicate set at the studio, but I think it's real.
Here is a Bing StreetSide View of the house (at least what you can see of it through the trees):
A. In the early seasons, I usually had to hunt down the locations after viewing the episodes,
using clues from the various scenes. By the now, though,
I've developed a small group of fans, spies & tipsters who kept an
eye out for Dexter filming in their neighborhoods, and would let me know
in advance when something was about to film there.
Between those reports, my own personal reconnaissance around town, and a
few new resources I discovered, by the time the first episode airs, I
already know most (but not all) of the filming locations, and only
need to watch the episodes and match up the scenes with the correct
locations.
This group of helpful fans includes Rick, Ellen, Elaine, Mia, Joel, Susan, Eric, Jeff, Kerry & others. My thanks to all of
them.
