Q.
What is it supposed to be on the show?
Q.
Where is it supposed to be on the show?
A. Somewhere in Dade County, Florida.
Q.
When did we see it on the show?
A. In Episode 6, of Season 7, "Do the Wrong Thing".
Isaak, the Ukrainian mob boss, has been tossed into prison after gunning down a number of rival Columbian cartel members in Mateo's bar.
In
this scene, we see him in the prison yard, wearing the usual bright
orange prison uniform, as he's approached by an angry member of that
Columbian cartel, who threatens to kill him.
Isaak
gains the advantage, twisting the man's arm, pinning him to a table,
and then calmly explaining how its a bad idea for them to take on the
Koshka Brotherhood.
The prisoner relents, and before letting him go, Isaak takes a cell phone from his hand.
He uses that phone to call George (his right hand man at the Fox Hole club) and tells him he needs him to pay him a visit, that it's urgent.
In a later scene, in the same episode, George shows up in the visitors room, and they talk (via the usual prison phone setup).
Isaak tells George to get him out of there as soon as humanly possible.
"I'd really like to avoid killing anyone in here. It would get in the way of my being released."
He asks
about Quinn, and George tells him that Quinn gave back the payoff
money.
Isaak is not pleased, and ominously tells George not to
disappoint him.
Q.
What is it actually in real life?

Q.
Where can I find it in real life?
A. This is Le Conte Middle School, at 1316 N. Bronson Ave, in Hollywood.
They mostly used the playground area, as the outdoor prison yard.
(The indoor prison scenes were shot at the studio.)
They added some razor wire to
the top of the school's chain link fence, but otherwise they don't seem to
have made too many other changes.
It's not far from the Sunset-Gower studio where they film Dexter. It's just a block north of Sal Price's house, and four blocks north of the cemetery where they filmed the scenes with Speltzer.
Here is a Google StreetView of the front of the school And here is a map
link.
Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?
A. In the early seasons, I usually had to hunt down the locations after viewing the episodes,
using clues from the various scenes. By the now, though,
I've developed a small group of fans, spies & tipsters who kept an
eye out for Dexter filming in their neighborhoods, and would let me know
in advance when something was about to film there.
Between those reports, my own personal reconnaissance around town, and a
few new resources I discovered, by the time the first episode airs, I
already know most (but not all) of the filming locations, and only
need to watch the episodes and match up the scenes with the correct
locations.
This group of helpful fans includes Rick, Ellen, Elaine, Mia, Joel, Susan, Eric, Jeff, Kerry & others. My thanks to all of
them.
This tip came from Rick. (Thanks, Rick!)
