A. It's not specified. But most likely, somewhere in Miami.
Q.
When did we see it on the show?
A. In Episode 1, of Season 7, "Are You...?".
In a series of flashbacks, Dexter thinks about his negative influence on the life of his sister, Debra.
In the flashbacks, we see a young Debra happily playing with a new puppy.
But when Harry comes home, with Dexter, he takes one look at the puppy and demands that his wife get rid of it.
Clearly, he is concerned that young Dexter will kill it.
Debra is heartbroken.
Dexter
later comes home to see Debra playing, somewhat dejectedly, with a toy
dog that her parents have bought for her as a substitute.
Dexter feels sorry for her, and tells her that it's not her fault, it's his.
When she asks him what he means, he is about to tell her the truth, when Harry stops him, saying that Dexter is alergic to dogs.
Harry
then takes young Dexter aside and warns him to never tell Debra the
truth - that she would be horrified and he would lose her.
Q.
What is it actually in real life?
A. A residential house.
Q.
Where can I find it in real life?
A. They filmed this at the same time they were filming the fire scenes at Travis's church. And since residential homes are plentiful, they didn't bother to look far.
This house is right across the street from (south of) the church, at 6226 Arroyo Glen Street, in the Highland Park section of Los Angeles - at the northwest corner of Arroyo Glen and Hayes Avenue.
Highland Park is located northwest of downtown L.A., about midway between downtown and Pasadena.
A. In the early seasons, I usually had to hunt down the locations after viewing the episodes,
using clues from the various scenes. By the now, though,
I've developed a small group of fans, spies & tipsters who kept an
eye out for Dexter filming in their neighborhoods, and would let me know
in advance when something was about to film there.
Between those reports, my own personal reconnaissance around town, and a
few new resources I discovered, by the time the first episode airs, I
already know most (but not all) of the filming locations, and only
need to watch the episodes and match up the scenes with the correct
locations.
This group of helpful fans includes Rick, Ellen, Elaine, Mia, Joel, Susan, Eric, Jeff, Kerry & others. My thanks to all of
them.
This one came as a tip from both Rick and F.P.(Thanks, Rick!)
