What is it supposed to be on the show?
Where is it supposed to be on the show?
A. At 1203 N. Gordon, in Miami.
When did we see it on the show?
A. We first see the house in Episode 10, of Season 6, "Ricochet Rabbit".
realized that Professor Gellar is dead, Travis goes looking for new
disciples to help him continue his work as the Doomsday Killer.
At an internet cafe,
he reads the profile of a user named "Doomsday Adam", whose real name
is Steve Dorsey. He is a fanatic follower of Gellar's blog, and
seems more than willing to kill for the cause.
In this scene, Travis shows up at Dorsey's modest apartment.
Dorsey is shocked to see him, but honored. He invites him inside, and introduces him to his wife. Beth.
promises them untold riches in heaven, but only if they trust and
obey. Steve promises they will do whatever he says.
In a later
scene, Angel shows up at the apartment to investigate. Before
going in, he phones Quinn, but Quinn doesn't answer, so Angel goes in
mistake. Beth Dorsey lies to him, and pretends that the videos
Steve made were just a gag. But when Angel spots a number of
Gellar's books on the shelf and gets suspicious, Travis appears behind
him and knocks him out with a blow from a large crucifix.
takes his badge and says it's a sign that God wants them to stage
"Wormwood" (his upcoming chemical weapon attack) at Miami Metro.
In the next
episode 11, "Talk to the Hand", Travis sends Beth off on her suicide
mission from this house, then attempts to kill Angel by tying him to the
bed and setting the house on fire. Quinn finally arrives on the
scene, though, and rescues him.
What is it actually in real life?
Where can I find it in real life?
A. For a change, they used the real address on the show (Debra said it over the phone).
This is 1203 Gordon Street, only in Hollywood, CA, not in Miami.
(It's at the northwest corner of Gordon & Lexington, just one block south of the Sunset-Gower studio, where Dexter is filmed.
They staged the fire in the back bedroom
of the house, using flame bars and a fireproof blanket.)
They have filmed a lot of Gordon Street over the years, but usually north of Fountain Ave.
The previous locations ranged from Doakes' apartment in Season One to Nick's house in this Season 6.
It's also just a block south of the donut shop, and the scene of Angel driving his Trans-Am.
Here is an aerial
photo of the location. Here is a Google StreetView.
Rick shot the photos below in September 2011, during filming:
Look to the lower right, and you'll see Angel's Trans-Am parked in front.
And see that couch near the ladder? It matches the Dorseys' couch in the screenshot above.
This is the south side of the same building, where they staged a fire in the back bedroom.
[Warning: These are private apartments. Do not trespass on their property,
knock on their doors, or do anything else that might disturb the residents.]

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?
A. In previous seasons, I've
usually had to hunt down the locations after viewing the episodes,
using clues from the various scenes. By the 6th season, though,
I'd developed a small group of fans, spies & tipsters who kept an
eye out for Dexter filming in their neighborhoods, and would let me know
in advance when something was about to film there.
Between those reports, my own personal reconnaissance around town, and a
few new resources I discovered, by the time the first episode aired, I
already knew most (but not all) of the filming locations, and only
needed to watch the episodes and match up the scenes with the correct
This group of helpful fans includes Kerry, Rick, Ellen, Susan, Jason,
Elaine, Joel, Julie, Geoff, Jeff, Jen, and others. My thanks to all of
me that they were filming this scene on Gordon Street, and sent me the
photos you see above. Plus, the mailbox in the scene clearly reads
1203. (Thanks, Rick. Great photos!)
