The location: Divers Dock |
![]() A. A dock.
Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show? A. Somewhere
on the Miami coast.
Q. When did we see it on the show?
A. This small, green dock was seen twice in the second season, but as two separate locations. In the scene, we see divers recover the black plastic bags filled with the body parts of Dexter's many victims (which he had dumped into the ocean).
That
discovery sets into motion the main plotlines of the second season, as
police realize there's a new serial killer (dubbed "The Bay Harbor
Butcher"), and Lundy is called in to lead the investigation. We see Dexter on his boat, which is moored at the very same green dock (check the background).
(After he drops it into the water, he has a fantasy of his dead brother springing up out of the water to clasp his arm.)

Q. Where can I find it in real life? A. This scene was shot in the Los Angeles harbor, at a small wooden dock floating off the southwest corner end of the berth/pier at the south end of Signal Street, in San Pedro, CA. It
is right next to (perhaps 100 yards southwest of) the historic Warehouse
#1, where they filmed the scene of young
Dexter standing on the roof. It's
located about a mile south of Ports O'Call Village, and just across
the water (east) of the wharf where they filmed the railroad car scenes. (
I shot the photo below , of Warehouse #1, in 2008, with a zoom lens,
looking northeast from the Cabrillo Pier,
Here is an aerial
photo of the dock (and the nearby rooftop). And here is a
