Q.
Where is it supposed to be on the show?
A. Numerous different places, depending on the scene and the set.
Q. When did we see it on the show?
A. You don't see the exterior of the studio in this series. but you see
the interior in virtually every episode of Dexter: Resurrection, with sets built to recreate assorted interior
locations,
Although they film most of the scenes out on location for this
series, if it's an interior scene, there's a good chance that it was
filmed on a set inside a studio soundstage.
Q. What is it actually in real life?
A. A movie studio.
Q.
Where can I find it in real life?
A. They filmed Dexter: Resurrection at the Great Point Studios in Yonkers, New York.
Although Great Point owns the studios that they build, the anchor tenant at the Yonkers studios is Lionsgate Films,
so Lionsgate acquired the naming rights to the studio, and while they are
there, the largest of the Great Point studios in Yonkers is known as Lionsgate Studio.
Great Point Studios is spread out over a
number of different buildings and campuses in Yonkers, most of them clustered within a few
blocks of each other in the same general part of Yonkers, just a block or two from the Hudson River.
Great Point facilities in Yonkers include studio facilities at:
- 28 Wells Ave, Yonkers, NY: the main Lionsgate studio campus.
- 90 Warburton Avenue: A separate building just north of the main campus.
- 95 Woodsworth Ave:
now a temporary pop up studio, one block north of the main studio
(which is right next to the railroad tracks where they filmed the scene
of the teens discovering the decapitated body of the Dark Passenger
killer's victim) . But Great Point's plans call for that pop-up to be
replaced by permanent studio buildings that will occupy all four corners of the
intersection of Woodsworth Avenue & Babcock Place.
( Great Point also has a separate studio at 1050 North Broadway, but that is two and a half miles north of the Lionsgate Studio, and it is leased by Mediapro, not Lionsgate, so I don't think Dexter: Resurrection is involved with that branch of the studio . )
And
within each studio lot are multiple soundstages, where they
actually do the filming. Most are 20,000 square feet, with other stages measuring in at 30,000 and 10,000 feet.
Here is a map of the various Great Point Studio locations:
You can read more about the locations of their various buildings at the Great Point website here.
With past Dexter studios
in Hollywood, I was able to give you a history of the studio and an
extensive list of movies and TV shows that were produced there over the
decades. But thats not possible with this Lionsgate / Great Point
studio, because its brand new.
They just opened the studio in January 2022.
But they still have a few notches on their belt already. Other than Dexter: Resurrection, they have also filmed scenes from The Gilded Age and Severance at the new Lionsgate Studio.
Dexter has always shot a fair number of their scenes near their studios.
There is a simple, practical reason for that: if a scene doesn't require a
specialized setting, and a more generic location is available near the
studio, it doesn't make much sense to travel farther away than one has
to for a location shoot.
So when the original Dexter series was filming in Los
Angeles, and their studio was Sunset-Gower in Hollywood, even though they
shot most of their scenes in Long Beach, they still shot a fair number
of them right around the studio, including at a number of residential
houses that were right across the street from the studio. And when they
did Original Sin, and they were operating out of the Studio
City studio in the San Fernando Valley, they filmed quite a large
number of those Original Sin
scenes in the Valley, including the Morgan family home and Deb's high
school. So it's not surprising that now that they have moved to
New York, and their new studio is in Yonkers, they've been filming
quite a few of their scenes right there in Yonkers.
Scenes shot in Yonkers, relatively close to the studio, include:
The NYPD impound lot.
Blessing Kamara's house.
The Police Station.
The discovery of the rideshare driver's body.
Harrison hallucinating a bloody Ryan.
The Alley where Dexter grabs Vinny, the landlord.
Dexter releasing Charley after abducting her.
and Joey Quinn at a crime scene in Miami Beach.
Update: As of January 2026, news is that Dexter: Resurrection will be moving to a new studio for its second season. It will be a brand new studio just opening, named Sunset Pier 94 Studios, located on a Hudson River pier on the west side of Manhattan Island.
The advantage is obvious. Their studio for the first season
required them to commute all the way up to Yonkers on a regular basis,
despite the fact that most of their filming took place on Manhattan
Island. And this new studio is right there on Manhattan, at the west end
of 12th Ave, just a mile west of Times Square, the heart of NYC. I
will be creating a new page about the new studio in time for the second
season of Resurrection, which begins filming in April 2026, and will air its first new episodes in October.

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?
A. Way back in February, a news story and set photos surfaced of the Dexter crew
filming on Woodworth Ave in Yonkers, and the story mentioned that it
was close to the Great Point studios. That was enough of a
lead that I was able to quickly determine that Dexter: Resurrection was going to be based out of the Great Point / Lionsgate Studio in Yonkers. Then it was just a matter of doing research into the studio to learn the exact addresses of its various facilities.
