DEXTER: Resurrection Filming Locations - the actual places where the TV show Dexter: Resurrection was filmed.

The Location
: Harrison spots Dexter,
Dexter has his car towed,
and Dexter meets Blessing Kamara.

Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

A. A city block.

Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

A.  In Manhattan.

Q. When did we see it on the show?
A. We see this location in Episode 2 of Season 1 of Resurrection.

These could actually be considered three separate events, but they take place in such a short time, and roughly on the same city block, that I've decided to combine them on this page.

The first thing to happen is that Harrison is in a car with his friend, when he looks down the street and sees what appears to be his father, Dexter Morgan. Only Harrison knows that Dexter is dead, because he shot him himself, so he assumes he's imagining things.

The next thing that happens, a moment later, is that Dexter sees that his truck is being taken away by a tow truck. He hurries to stop it, but it's too late.
The tow truck driver isn't listening to any of his pleas, and tells him he can pick up the truck later at the police impound yard. The third thing that happens is that Dexter calls a rideshare car (referred to as an Ur-Car on this show) to take him to that impound yard, and in the process meets its friendly driver, named Blessing Kamara.

Q. What is it actually in real life?

A. A city block near a notable hotel.

Q. Where can I find it in real life?

A. In the first part of this scene, Harrison is in a car with his friend, they are stopped at the intersection of Columbus Ave and W 63rd St., with the car heading west. Harrison looks south down Columbus Avenue and spots Dexter standing on the east side of Columbus Ave, near  the end of that block, near 62nd Street.

In the second part of the scene, Dexter looks south down Columbus Ave and sees a tow truck driver hooking up his car.  That tow truck is parked in front of a Mexican restaurant known as Rosa Mexicano, which is located at 61 Columbus Ave.  That is where Dexter has the futile conversation with the tow truck driver.

In the third part of this scene, Dexter is forced to call a rideshare car, and the driver of that car is none other than Blessing Kamara, who goes on to become friends with Dexter and his landlord.  Blessing picks him up in basically the same spot where he was talking to the tow truck driver, right in front of Rosa Mexicano restaurant, at 61 Columbus Ave

So all three of those mini-scenes take place along Columbus Ave between 63rd St and 62nd St.

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

A. It took different evidence for each of those three mini scenes.

  • In the scene where  a tow truck drives off with Dexter's car, in the background, for a brief moment, you can briefly glimpse four large poster signs across the street.  Here is a screencap of that shot, with the posters highlighted in red:

and here is a matching StreetView of those same posters:

That matching StreetView revealed that the building with the posters was the David H. Koch Theater, which is  right across the street from that restaurant location, on the west side of Columbus Avenue.

  • As for that restaurant itself, when Dexter looks up at the No-Parking sign, during his encounter with the tow truck driver, we get a  brief glimpse that reveals a bright red neon sign and some abstract Aztec-like insignias in the background behind Dexter.

I could see that the sign read  “Rosa Mex...”, so I assumed it probably read “Rosa Mexican Restaurant”. It was actually “Rosa Mexicano”, but my guess was close enough that  a quick Google search quickly revealed that location, which turned out to be right across the street from those large posters, something that was easily confirmed with this StreetView of the restaurant

  • As for the first scene with Harrison in the car, I knew it was close to is Empire Hotel, and after blowing up the image of Harrison in that car, I could see that in the background is  a street sign reading  “W 63rd Street” (see image below), which is the street the hotel faces.

After matching that sign in StreetView, I could also determine which direction he was heading, and that the cross street was Columbus Ave.

That put all three of those locations within a short block of each other.
