Q.
Where is it supposed to be on the show?
A. Just outside of Iron Lake, NY.
Q.
When did we see it on the show?
A. We see the moment in Episode 1, of Season 1.
This is a very brief shot of Dexter behind the wheel of a stolen truck.
After being confronted by the suspicious Angel Batista, Dexter the Seneca Nation Clinic
via a window (still wearing the hospital robe), steals a truck, and in
this brief moment is seen on the highway speeding away from Iron Lake
for the last time.
After what seems like a very brief drive, he stops at the Cedar Pines clothing store, to get a change of clothes.
Q.
What is it actually in real life?
A. An actual highway in upstate New York, but with a revealing traffic sign.
Q.
Where can I find it in real life?
A. Dexter: Resurrection recreated Iron Lake in the hamlets & villages of Orangetown, New York, most notably in and around Sparkill,
where are they filmed the scene of Batista talking to Teddy, and the
scene of Dexter stopping at the Cedar Pines clothing store.
So it is revealing and amusing that in the background of this highway shot, you can see a green road sign reads .“Sparkhill”.
This scene was actually shot on part of Route 9W, in Orangetown, less than a mile southeast of downtown Sparkill.
The camera is looking north from approximately 348 Hillside Ave, meaning that Dexter is driving south on that highway.
( They were shooting with a zoom lens, which causes
foreshortening, and makes the background look closer than it really
is.ress sace )
Here is a matching street view from the same spot:
(complete with that green Sparkhill sign)
