DEXTER Filming Locations - over a hundred actual places where the TV show Dexter was filmed.

The location: The Stash House.

Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. An empty home, used as a drug stash house.

Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. Somewhere in Miami.

Q. When did we see it on the show?

    A. In Episode 6 of Season 3, "Si Se Puede".

Dexter partners up with his new friend, District Attorney Miguel Prado, to help break a Neo-Nazi
murderer (named Clemson Galt) out of a prison - so they can kill him.

Prado has him subpoenaed to testify in court, convinces him that they're going to help him escape, then sneaks him out of the courthouse in his van.

After they smuggle him out of the courthouse garage, Dexter tells Miguel to meet him at the stash house.

The nighttime scene then alternates between Miguel arriving at the stash house, and Dexter going through his usual killing ritual - with Galt Saran-wrapped to his table. We are led to believe that Dexter is doing this inside the stash house.

But when Miguel enters the stash house, he finds the place empty, and realizes that Dexter has fooled him - and has killed Galt without him at another location.

Q. What is it actually in real life?

    A. A residential home, in a nice neighborhood.

Q. Where can I find it in real life?

    A. This house can be found at 3757 Pine Ave, in northwest Long Beach, CA.

(As expected, the pink flamingos on the lawn were added by the prop department.)

That's on the west side of Pine, two houses south of Bixby Road.

It's in the same general neighborhood used for several other third season "Dexter" locations: Miguel Prado's house, the home of Maria LaGuerta, and the Angel Food Donuts stand on Long Beach Blvd.

In the fourth season, the area saw even more shooting, including Trinity's Home, the pool party and the Neighborhood Watch scene.

Here is an aerial photo of the place. And here is a map link.

I shot the photo below in May 2010.

[ Warning: This is a private home.  Do not trespass on their property, knock on their door,
or do anything else that might disturb the residents.

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

    A.  There wasn't much to go on for this one, particularly since it was a night shot, so it wound up on my list of missing locations for the third season.

In 2010, a fan, Geoff, emailed me saying he thought he had found the house on Pine Ave, but since Google StreetView didn't show this address, he couldn't be 100% sure.

The next day, I drove down to Long Beach to check it out, and sure enough, it matched the screencaps.

    (Thanks, Geoff!)
