The location: Ramon Prado's House.

Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. The residential home of Ramon Prado.

Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. Somewhere in Miami.

Q. When did we see it on the show?

    A. Only once, in a brief scene in the third season finale, Episode 12, "Do You Take Dexter Morgan?"

After the death of Miguel, Dexter (wrongly believing that Ramon Prado had broken into his apartment) goes to Ramon's house, planning to blackmail him into backing off.

But when he gets to the house, he meets Ramon's wife (Sara) on the front porch. She tells him that she doesn't know where Ramon is, that he's off on a bender (following his brother's death), and she's worried about him.  Dexter asks her to let him know if Ramon shows up

Don't confuse Ramon Prado with his brother, Miguel Prado.

Miguel was the one who discovered Dexter's secret and pressured him into a friendship and murderous partnership.

Ramon, his brother, was the more outwardly aggressive of the two, hostile and lacking the artificial charm & guile of his Assistant District Attorney brother. And it was Ramon who Debra and Quinn suspected of being the Skinner when he kidnapped a suspect in his brother's death.

But as it turned out, despite his rough edges, Ramon was actually the better of the two...

Q. What is it actually in real life?

    A. A residential home - but nowhere near Miami.

Q. Where can I find it in real life?

    A. You'll find the home at 6551 Homewood Ave.in Hollywood, west of the Sunset-Gower studio where the show is filmed.

Homewood Ave is just two streets south of Sunset Blvd, but tucked away on a shortened part of the street between Wilcox & Seward. The house is on the on the north side of the street, mid-block.

It's just a few blocks southwest of two other third season locations: Wendell Owens' home and the motel seen in Episode 5 (where Angel talked to Detective Barbara Gianna while she was working vice).

And it's not far from the tailor shop where Dexter was grabbed by the Skinner.

Here is an aerial photo of the house. And here is a map link of the location.

(I shot the photo below in 2009)

[ Warning: This is a private home.  Do not trespass on their property, knock on their door,
or do anything else that might disturb the residents.

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

    A. The number, 6551, was visible above the door in the scenes. And I was lucky it was, since the night-time scene was shot in a series of close-ups that didn't show much of the house, just the front door (with what looked like a stained glass panel), part of a window, and the palm trees out front. Not many clues to go on. But even with the house number, figuring out which street, and which part of greater Los Angeles it was in was the tricky part.

However, when I discovered Wendell Owen's home, I noticed that the Owens house also had a 6000 street number. So I started checking the 6550 blocks of all the Hollywood streets. I used Live Local's aerial photos to look for the palm tree trunks out front, and once I had spotted a few possible candidates, I zeroed in with Google StreetView to confirm the details.
