THE TWO "AMERICAN BEAUTY" HOUSES
These two (somewhat similar) homes
were used in the filming of the
1999 Oscar-winning movie "American Beauty."
The exteriors of both the Spacey/Burham
home and the Colonel's home next door
were movie sets, located on Blondie Street on the Warner Ranch back lot
The two real homes pictured here were
used for the interior shots of those two homes.

is located on Homesdale St. in Brentwood,
just northwest of Westwood.
They shot the interior scenes here of the Lester Burnham home (Kevin Spaceyís
The house below
is located on Windsor Blvd. in the Hancock
Park section of Los Angeles,
They filmed the interior shots of the Colonelís house here.
In one interesting scene involving the Colonel's
house, the two Jims (Scott Bakula & Sam Robards)
come to the Colonelís door with their welcome basket. That scene was actually
shot three weeks apart.
The angle looking out on the Jims was shot on the Warner Ranch, and the
angle looking in on the
Colonel inside the house was shot here in Hancock Park, three weeks between
