Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?
A. 931 Harbor
Drive, in Miami.
Q. When did we see it on the show?
A. Just once, in Episode 11 (of Season 3), "I Had a Dream".
After the police discover the location of the Skinner's lair under the freeway (and rescue Anton), the Skinner (George King) goes into hiding.
Checking his phone records, Debra discovers that he had been previously hired to do yard work at the home of a wealthy woman who was on vacation.
Debra guesses, correctly, that the Skinner may hide out at the empty house while the owner is out of town.
So she and Quinn go to the estate.
In the scene, we see them pull up in front of the house in their car, then walk to the front door.
Getting no response, Debra leads Quinn around to the back, where (after pushing their way through a virtual jungle of palms, and being startled by a squawking macaw). they spot the Skinner inside the house (through a window).
A foot chase ensues, through the house, and back out past the pool. Quinn tackles King, but is slashed across the face with a blade, allowing the Skinner to escape once again.
He finally meets his match after taking Dexter captive at a tobacco warehouse.
(Don't confuse this location with the Skinner's Lair. George King only stayed for a brief while at this home, before being flushed out.)
Q. What is it actually in real life?
A. An expensive home - but not in Miami.
Q. Where can I find it in real life?
A. You'll find this home at 4256 Pacific Avenue, in Long Beach, CA.
That's on the east side of Pacific, four houses south of Country Club Drive.
According to real estate listings, it's a 5,080 square foot home, built in 1929, with 17 rooms (including 5 bedrooms, 6 baths).
of palms in the back appears to have been a creation of the show's location
I shot the photos below in 2009:
Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?
A. I spent so much time looking for the Skinner's lair (from the same episode) that I failed to spend much time looking for this mansion hideout, and almost forgot about it.
local Long Beach fan Nancy tipped
me to the location. ( Thanks,
