DEXTER Filming Locations - hundreds of actual places where the TV show Dexter was filmed.

The location: Lisa's House

Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. A private home.

Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. Somewhere in Miami.

Q. When did we see it on the show?

    A. In Episode 2, of Season 6, "Once Upon a Time..."

We see only the interior of the house the first time, when Travis Marshall disappoints his mentor, Professor Gellar, by paying a visit to his older sister, Lisa.

We see Lisa & Travis having dinner at her place, as she tells him that she never sees him any more, and begs him to stay.  He says that he has to go to work, but eventually he relents and stays.

Later, back at the church, Travis reaps the consequences, when Gellar confronts him, and declares that Lisa "cannot be saved".  Travis momentarily defies him, saying that Lisa is "a good person".

But when Gellar burns his own arm with a red hot poker, a tearful Travis declares that he will never see his sister, Lisa, again.

We see the home again, in later episodes, when Travis visits her, and when he breaks with Gellar and returns to stay with her.

In Episode 8 ("Sin of Omission"), after the police have begun to zero in on Travis, Debra goes to Lisa's house to ask about Travis.  While she's there, Travis is riding a bike to Lisa's house (to try to persuade her to leave town), when he sees the police, and rides on past.

Later, Gellar (refusing to let Travis leave) whacks Travis with a shovel at her school, and goes on to kill Lisa, leaving her body posed as the "Whore of Babylon".

    Q. What is it actually in real life?

      A. A residential house.

    Q. Where can I find it in real life?

    A. Lisa's house is at 1442 Gordon Street, in Hollywood, CA.

It is right across the street from the Sunset-Gower Studio, where Dexter is filmed.

That's on the east side of Gordon, just south of Sunset Blvd.

Gordon Street has become a virtual back lot for Dexter.
They've shot dozens of scenes in the houses & apartments lining the east side of Gordon, between Sunset Blvd & Fountain Ave, ranging from Doakes apartment (in the first season) to Boyd Fowler's house (in Season 6).

They've also used the strip mall at Fountain & Gordon on several occasions.

And this year, they moved south of Fountain, for Nick's House (just a block away from Lisa's).

Speaking of Lisa, her school (where Travis visits her in episode 6) is only about a half mile southeast of here.

[ Warning: This is a private home.  Do not trespass on their property,
knock on their door, or do anything else that might disturb the residents.]

    Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

    A.  In previous seasons, I've usually had to hunt down the locations after viewing the episodes, using clues from the various scenes.  By the 6th season, though, I'd developed a small group of fans, spies & tipsters who kept an eye out for Dexter filming in their neighborhoods, and would let me know in advance when something was about to film there.

Between those reports, my own personal reconnaissance around town, and a few new resources I discovered, by the time the first episode aired, I already knew most (but not all) of the filming locations, and only needed to watch the episodes and match up the scenes with the correct locations.

This group of helpful fans includes Kerry, Rick, Ellen, Susan, Jason, Elaine, Joel, Julie, Geoff, Jeff, and others. My thanks to all of them.  This tip came from Rick, who sent me the photo you see above.  (Thanks, Rick!)
