In Episode 8, of Season 7, "Argentina". Debra has just thrown Dexter out of her beach house, after confessing that she loved him (after he told her he had feelings for Hannah). In this very short scene, he is driving with (the imaginary) Harry, and following Isaak. Dexter is clearly upset and doesn't know what to do in response to Debra's unexpected announcement. "She's not in love with me -- that's insane!" he tells Harry. Harry tells him that it would explain a lot - like why Debra has been covering for him. Harry tells Dexter to calm down, and Dexter replies that Harry knows what he does to calm down... Dexter follows Isaak to a gay bar, parks, and goes inside to kill him. Q. What is it actually in real life? A. Public streets - just not in Miami. Q. Where can I find it in real life?

A. Most of this "driving with Harry" scene was shot on E. Ocean Blvd, in the Belmont Shore section of Long Beach.

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

A.  At around the 47:34 mark, they pass a distinctive building lined in lights:

Since I knew they filmed the earlier scenes of Jamie driving on Ocean, I searched that street for this building, and found it at 5101 E. Ocean Blvd:

It's called Club Ripples, and according to their website, it's a gay/lesbian bar. That's ironic, since in this scene, Dexter is following Isaak to a gay bar.  He drives right past this real one, and instead winds up at Yankee Doodles, which isn't one.  That's Hollywood for you.

At the end of the scene, they pass a building with a sign that reads: "Chucks: Home of the Weasel":

I've passed this place a zillion times, and it's hard to forget a sign like that.  But even if I hadn't, the name is right there: Chuck's Coffee Shop, which any Google search will tell you is at 4120 East Ocean Blvd, in Long Beach, right next to Yankee Doodles.

In the scene above, they are not on Ocean, they are actually on the south side of Chuck's on a small street called E. Olympic Plaza, which runs between Chuck's and the Olympic Pool, next to the Belmont Pier.

( And "The Weasel"?  It's a breakfast dish served at Chucks: scrambled eggs topped with chili, cheese, onions and thick potato chips. )
